From the Bookshelf

An update on the books on my bookself now. I have picked up blogging a little more, as can be seen by my reduced booklist.

Homemaking- The Hidden Art of Homemaking by Edith Schaeffer Though this book was written in 1971, even before I was born, it is providing me with a "justification" for beauty. So often, I get caught up in the mundane of life with four children, and don't think about bringing beauty into our lives. In chapter 2, it made me think of blogging, in which Edith is explaining what "Hidden Art" is. She even suggests adding some little drawings or pictures with marker to your grocery list. Now, to some people that may seem like more work, but I like the permission granted to spend a little extra time and money on making our domains lovely, which is a type of Christian virtue.

Another book I have pulled out is Five Little Peppers and How they Grew by Margaret Sydney. One of the benefits of having your first and second born 5.5 years apart, is you get to re-read all the best books aloud again! This would be a great read aloud during the holiday season.

If you click through my site to Amazon to purchase these or anything else through the Amazon search engine on the side, I get credit. Thanks for taking the effort!

  1. I know I read Five Little Peppers as a child but I don't remember anything about it. Hmmm... Now you have me wanting to dig through my parents' attic and find my childhood books...
