Wow, Tweet and See has had a hard month!
Our area of the country is in a severe drought. We had the least amount of rain in August that has ever been recorded in a month in our area.
I think the birds have left for greener pastures and better water. My birdbath actually evaporates before it even has a chance to grow algae in it!
Here is my microscopic list for this month. BUT, I want you to know that I just purchased more black oil sunflowers and have readjusted both of my feeding stations this morning in an effort to woo some birds back. As we are entering September, some of our birds will be beginning their migratory flight, and we are waiting for our Sandhill Cranes to be arriving within the next SIX WEEKS!
- Barn swallow
- Mockingbird
- Carolina Chickadee
- Bluebird
- Northern Cardinal
- House finch
- Tufted Titmouse
- Blue Jay
- Mourning Dove
- Rock Dove
- Brown-headed Nuthatch
- Carolina Wren
- Red-Headed Woodpecker*
My red-headed woodpecker is a life bird!!! And I will tell you, the pictures do not do them justice!
How has your bird watching been this month?
Heather
I'm sorry to hear that you are in a drought..our area is definitely NOT! We were hit by the effects of Hurricane Irene last weekend, and our area has had severe flooding. Wish we could send some rain your way!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to see more birds in the coming month :) Sandhill Cranes sound great!
Don't think I'm goinng to get a tweet and see up for Aug. We didn't see much either, and I have spent all my blog time this weekend fixing the hacker's mess. I still have a lot to fix, but at least my blog can be visited again.
ReplyDeleteI'll get my tweet up soon - We are getting our migrating birds back. I had a question though - I just purchased the Drawing with Children on Monday - I'd love to jump in - but have not been following along. Is it better for me to start at lesson one, or jump in on the next weds? Today?
ReplyDeletePebblekeeper- you know we are better late than never around here on posts and memes! I would start your Drawing with Children at the beginning. The links for the meme are always open (or are supposed to be), so just post as you go, I hope more people will participate. As for now, I will not being writing any more Wed. posts for a few more weeks.
