April Tweet and See

Well, I can hardly figure out if I am coming or going these last three weeks, but I am resurfacing to add our Bird list for the month of April.  We did see a few surprises!  But, a few of the regulars at our feeders have stopped coming, I guess the regular outdoor buffet is satisfying them.

  • Pine Siskin
  • Ring-Billed Gull
  • Canada Goose
  • Morning Dove
  • Rock Dove
  • American Crow
  • Carolina Chickadee
  • Mockingbird
  • American Goldfinch
  • Cardinal
  • White Throated Sparrow *
  • Golden Eagle and baby *
  • Chipping Sparrow
  • Great Blue Heron
  • Mallard
  • Eastern Towhee
  • Brown headed Cowbird
  • Chuck Will's Widow *
  • Purple Martin
  • Catbird *
  • Whippoorwill *
  • Osprey *
  • Red-Winged Blackbird
  • Grackle
* are the first time we have added them to our life list.

How were things in your neck of the woods?  I am wondering if any of your birds seemed "off" this month due to the rain or storms.  We are down here in the South and have tornado destruction all around us, our little town was spared.  I did notice one pair of crows that were out a the same time a tornado was touching down about 3 miles from them-Go Figure!

Start your lists for May.  Also, make plans to keep them up when you travel.  In a few weeks we will be heading up to the Outer Banks and Williamsburg, and you can bet we are packing out Kaufman- the best bird book I have found!  Our bird list will look a bit unusual and we are excited!!

  1. Well, I must not be seeing as well as I thought. I posted my tweet and see to Olive Plants instead of B4L and didn't realize it until I had linked in here. Ay, what a week!

  2. Well - I have gone a bit overboard on trying to see all of these migrating and moving and breeding plumaging birds here on the Oregon Coast. Finding a way to categorize them all has driven me bonkers. Or to show the photos . . . . I didn't make a written list thism month - I'm a little burned out from trying to organize the photos - I had 388 for April. Yikes. I'll start out May better - keep a better written list. ;)

  3. Just realized I didn't link up although I had posted my list already. We are seeing a serious decrease in the variety of birds this month. I wish I had time to researching the reasons.

I have never heard of a Chuck Will's Widow and I will have to go look it up. Golden eagle! Awesome sighting.

Thanks for hosting this event. We have started our May list.

  4. Thanks for the title to the bird book. My daughter wants to get her a good book on birds.
